KAT + JAMES | WINTER ENGAGEMENT SESSION AT BERNHEIM FOREST | LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

Kat and James first met at a barn party during their time at Walla Walla Community College. Although they had lived in the same small town for eight years, it wasn’t until that night that they finally noticed each other. They spent their first date exploring their home town together, eventually ending up at a Walmart roaming the aisles and making each other laugh. Their fun, casual first date set the tone for their relaxed, playful relationship right off the bat!

In February 2018 after several years together James was ready to pop the question. Kat had been working night shift and sleeping during the day so he woke her up to a sweet at home dinner date. She couldn’t quite figure out why he was acting so strange until she found the ring on her chocolate mousse dessert!

When it came time for their engagement session Kat and James wanted to prioritize a casual, outdoor setting that allowed them to get comfortable and enjoy the experience. Bernheim forest was the perfect location to capture the kind of shots they were hoping for! The bridge was still wet from recent rain and cast a glow as they kissed, danced, and laughed their way across it. A cluster of gorgeous winter trees provided cover as they got more and more comfortable in front of the camera, showing off their silly sides and enjoying time together.

A fun blanket with deep autumn hues became the perfect prop to keep them warm and add some color amongst the picturesque beige of a winter field. Finally we headed to the lake to wrap up this sweet session with some water side kisses. Despite some pre-session nerves, Kat and James looked natural and happily in love all day. They have the rare quality of a couple totally at home in one another that will undoubtedly lead to a life of happiness!
