CHOOSING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

BRINGING YOUR WEDDING MEMORIES TO LIFE.
You have hundreds of wedding plans to make. Deciding who will bring your memories to life is one of your most important.
When the flurry and excitement of your wedding is over, it’s beautifully captured images
that help you revisit the romance, emotion and spirit of an event that passes so quickly.

So, how do you choose the best wedding photographer for you?

CHOOSE A PHOTOGRAPHER WHO VALUES YOUR DREAMS
I think of you as more than just a shot list. Instead, I invest time getting to know you and your wedding dreams. That makes all the difference.
You will be more comfortable in front of my lens, and your images will have the natural, more authentic feel of true keepsakes.

VIEW PORTFOLIO IMAGES FROM AN ENTIRE WEDDING
I will capture consistent, quality images throughout your wedding day. Details matter. And the subtle nuances of your day are important. I’m happy to share entire wedding galleries with you, so you can assure yourself that the quality you expect consistently shines through in every shot.

I’m experienced dealing with many different lighting environments and situations. I’m committed to professional and timely response to your needs before and after the ceremony. All hallmarks of a seasoned professional. And all assurances that every special moment of your wedding is flawlessly captured.

BOOKING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

THE EASIEST PART OF YOUR WEDDING PLANS.

Let’s get together — on the phone, at your favorite coffee spot, even SKYPE — I’m flexible. We’ll chat about your wedding day, confirm your date, and discuss all the fun details. I’ll show you examples of beautiful custom wedding albums and other items that can become your cherished wedding day heirlooms. Together, we’ll select the perfect package for your wedding.
Once we confirm the details, I’ll prepare your contract. After you return your signed contract and the retainer fee, I’m officially your wedding photographer!

WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT

  • 4 Weeks Before Your Wedding: Your final payment is due.

  • 1 Week Before Your Wedding: We confirm the details from your questionnaire and address changes or questions.

  • Your Wedding Day: I follow your timeline as your day unfolds.

  • 1-2 Weeks After Your Wedding: Sneak peek images are posted to Facebook and my blog for your friends and family to view.

ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS

SHOW YOUR LOVED ONES HOW IT ALL BEGAN.

Engagement sessions add so much to the story of who you are as a couple right now, and they’re an ideal way to become more comfortable in front of my lens before your wedding day. Your engagement session can be as simple as a stroll through your favorite park, an intimate meal
at your favorite café, or even a romantic return to where he proposed — anything you can imagine to share the imagery of your personal love story.

Formal or informal, images from your engagement session are beautiful additions to your wedding album, and also make a wonderful signing book. They help to craft the whole story, and can even be used for save-the-date cards, invitations or thank you cards.

Lauren’s photography style and skill is astonishing. She took our engagement photos and I could not be happier with the entire experience. She made everything work when we had to push the session back and was even at the venue early to look for the best places to shoot. We are so happy with the photos and have gotten so many compliments from family and friends. Lauren is great to work with and I can’t wait to have her taking photos on our wedding day.

YOUR WEDDING TIMELINE

A SMOOTH FLOW TO YOUR SPECIAL DAY

Memorable weddings don’t just happen. They take a bit of organization. To ensure a smooth flow of beautifully captured memories of your day, a timeline of wedding events will help guide your planning.

GETTING READY: THE BRIDE & GROOM
1.5 to 2.0 hours
Plan for some additional time for photos at the salon, and if you’re planning a “first look”.
THE WEDDING CEREMONY
15 minutes to 1.5 hours
The length of your ceremony may vary widely. Afterward, allow more time for formal portraits
(if planned) to allow your guests to leave the church or venue.
FORMAL GROUP & FAMILY PORTRAITS
30 minutes to 45 minutes
Formal portrait timing can vary widely depending on group size and family/group combinations.
WEDDING PARTY & THE NEWLYWEDS
1.0 to 2.0 hours
Timing can depend largely on the venue, size of the bridal party and variety of poses.
YOUR RECEPTION
2.0 to 4.0 hours
Your first dance, cutting the cake, dancing guests, friends and family sharing your joy.

Remember. Your wedding day is unique, and planning together ensures you don’t miss a minute of this special time in your lives.

WHAT TIME SHOULD MY CEREMONY BEGIN?

• Are you having an outdoor ceremony or indoor?
If your ceremony will be outdoors, if possible check out the site at the times you are considering having the ceremony start. This means time of day and time of year. Will you be in the shade or directly under the sun. While I can work with either lighting situation shade or evening lighting is always going to produce more flattering images. Direct overhead light casts harsh shadows on faces and gives your photos heavy contrast.
• What time of year will your ceremony take place?
It's important to consider the time of year for your ceremony time regardless if it will take place indoors or out. 5 PM in the summer will be completely different lighting than 5PM in the winter. It's important to consider these differences when planning your outdoor portraits. If you wait until after the ceremony for your couples portraits will there be any light left?
• Are you having a first look with the groom?
Having a first look can help eliminate the need to have any formal  pictures after your ceremony.

SHOULD WE HAVE A FIRST LOOK?

Should you have a first look?
Your first response may be a big NO!
“I want my fiancé to see me for the first time as I come down the aisle”
Many couples are scared that a first look will take away from the emotional impact as their fiancé sees them for the down the aisle.
Let me be the first to assure you that this is not the case. I have
seen many couples become emotional at both the first look and as
they're walking down the aisle to say “I do”.

What are the benefits to having a first look?
A fist look is completely private. It's you, your fiancé and
your photographers. No one else. We stage your fiancé for
the big reveal and then we fade into the background and let
the two of you have your moment. After a few minutes we then
take time to do a few bride and groom portraits. We usually add
the rest of the wedding party and finish up all of your formal pictures
for the day. We can even do family formals at this time. By having a first look followed by formal portraits, most couples feel less stressed
the rest of the day.. This leaves them free to join everyone almost
immediately after the ceremony and begin enjoying the party with their guests!

DETAILS, DETAILS. . .

SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING BLUE

The dress. The rings. The cake. The bouquet. These, and all the other visual details
of your wedding, are small but oh-so-meaningful expressions of all that is unique about you. They are the fine points that distinguish you as a couple, and form the visual texture of tender memories. I will document them with care.

Wow! I can not say enough about Lauren. She and Morgan photographed my wedding at Bernheim forest and did a fabulous job. The pictures were beautiful but it was their personality and professionalism that blew me away more. They expertly handled our inexperience with photographs and were so laid back with us, making it very comfortable. So many thank you’s to Lauren for a wonderful job and for being so nice. I hope I get to work with her again in the future.

Want to view real weddings?

Lauren is the best of the best! She literally answered every single crazy/outrageous question I had about our big day and put all of my worries to rest. She was able to capture all of the love and emotion that we were hoping to witness on our big day, which is a pretty hard thing to show in a picture. Lauren took away a lot of my wedding day stresses and filled me with excitement and joy. She was so accommodating and even went above and beyond her photographer duties to help smooth out a couple of unforeseen issues at our venue. I hardly saw her the entire ceremony & reception, yet she captured EVERY SINGLE moment. There aren’t enough kind words I could write that would explain how wonderful her work is, but the pictures she takes speak volumes. Each photo brings back such wonderful memories of our wedding day that I forgot about, after all, it just goes by so fast. So this is a big THANK YOU to Lauren for helping to make our wedding the day of our dreams!
— AMANDA M.
My husband and I could not thank Lauren enough for the amazing memories that she captured on our wedding day. She paid attention to every detail and she was sure to take every picture that I wanted. Lauren is very laid back and very easy to work with. Her work is amazing and I can’t wait to book with her in the future!

KINd Words

We are so thankful that Lauren was able to be our wedding photographer! She was extremely helpful before the wedding and gave us some great advice regarding certain shots and how to set up our timeline. During the wedding she was professional and made sure all my requested pictures were shot first. She got some beautiful shots of small details at our ceremony and reception. She made sure to capture every important moment for us. We just received our photos and an adorable locket she had made. I could not be happier with everything. Our photos are truly stunning and are a piece of art. I can’t wait to put then up in our home and to get our photo album finished! I cannot say enough good things about Lauren as a photographer. You truly will be making one of the best investments in your wedding if you use Photography & Design by Lauren.

Lauren is amazing to work with! She is so easy going, but gives you great direction. All my guests and relatives raved about the wonderful wedding photographers that were at the wedding. Not only that, her pictures are beautiful. She is so talented! Thank you Lauren for capturing these events in our lives. The memories you’ve given us to share with everyone are beyond amazing!

Cannot say enough about how great Lauren is! She captured our wedding day perfectly! I had searched for photographers forever for our September wedding when I came across Lauren and I am so happy I found her! In the midst of our chaotic wedding day, (as I am not the most organized person) she helped to pull everything together and make sure our pictures were absolutely perfect! She was so helpful, prompt, and understanding throughout the whole wedding planning process and on our wedding day. Everyone has commented on how awesome our pictures are! Thank you Lauren!!!
