Lisa and Ken’s wedding at the Peterson Dumesnil House was the kind of day that felt calm, joyful, and completely true to who they are. This historic venue has a welcoming charm to it, and it created a beautiful backdrop for every part of their celebration.

Lisa and Ken first met in Louisville when Lisa was in medical school and Ken had just moved back home after finishing law school. They clicked quickly and have been together for almost eight years. Hearing their story, it is easy to see why this day felt so meaningful for them and their families.
They also shared the sweetest proposal story. On the night of the summer solstice, they took an evening walk at one of their favorite parks. There is an overlook there with a clear view of downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River. They stopped for a few minutes to take in the scenery and that is where Ken proposed. It was simple, thoughtful, and very them.
The Peterson Dumesnil House looked beautiful as guests arrived. The wraparound porch, the tall trees, and the open lawn all worked together to create a relaxed atmosphere. It is a venue that feels historic without being formal, which makes it a great fit for couples who want an intimate, welcoming experience.

Before the ceremony, Lisa and Ken chose to do a first look. These moments are always some of my favorites to photograph because they give couples a quiet pause before everything begins. When Lisa walked toward Ken, her entire expression lit up. She kept that same smile all day, and it set the tone for a warm, joyful celebration.

The floral design added just the right amount of softness and color to the day. The arrangements paired well with the style of the house and the natural greens surrounding it. Everything felt cohesive and understated in the best way.

The ceremony took place on the lawn with the house in the background. The Peterson Dumesnil House is known for its elegant outdoor spaces, and they created an intimate setting for Lisa and Ken’s vows. Their closest friends and family gathered around them, and the atmosphere stayed calm and personal throughout.

My focus as their photographer was to capture the small, candid moments that showed how much this day meant to them. They were present with each other and their guests in a way that made the entire day easy to photograph. Laughter, hugs, and natural interactions came one after another, which always makes for timeless images.

Lisa and Ken’s wedding at the Peterson Dumesnil House was a reminder that meaningful celebrations do not need to be complicated. When the setting fits the couple and everyone feels comfortable, the day flows naturally.
