A Clerestory at Greyline wedding is a great fit for couples who want a relaxed, intentional day that keeps the focus on what really matters. Crystal and David’s wedding felt exactly like that from start to finish. This was my first time photographing a wedding at Clerestory at Greyline, and I immediately appreciated how smoothly the day flowed with everything taking place in one location.
From the pacing of the morning to the laid-back energy of the evening, the entire day felt centered around being present, excited, and genuinely ready to get married.
The day began at Clerestory at Greyline in Lexington, where both Crystal and David got ready at the venue. Having everything happen onsite kept the timeline simple and allowed the day to unfold without rushing from place to place.
Crystal had all of her details ready when I arrived, including her dress, shoes, jewelry, and her invitation suite, which she designed herself. That personal touch set the tone for the day and was one of those details that felt especially meaningful to photograph.
David arrived already dressed, but we still took a few moments to capture him settling in before everything picked up. Those quieter moments at the beginning of the day often help set a steady pace for what follows.
Crystal and David chose to do a first look together before the ceremony, just outside the venue. It gave them a private moment to slow down and take everything in before the rest of the day moved forward.
Their energy was calm but excited. You could tell they weren’t nervous about the wedding itself. They were simply ready to be married. After their first look, we moved straight into wedding party photos. Taking care of portraits ahead of time kept the afternoon relaxed and allowed them to fully enjoy their ceremony and reception without stepping away later.
Their wedding ceremony was unplugged, which meant guests were fully present and focused on the moment. Crystal walked down the aisle to “Here Comes the Sun,” a song David chose because that’s how Crystal makes him feel. It was simple, personal, and fit them perfectly.
One of the most memorable moments of the ceremony came during Crystal’s vows, when she mentioned her cat and how much she loves the way David loves her cat too. It was such an honest, everyday reflection of their relationship. As a cat person myself, it was impossible not to smile!
Although we didn’t have a dramatic sunset that evening, we stepped outside around sunset time and made the most of the light that was available. Crystal and David handled this part of the day exactly the way I love to see. They stayed flexible, trusted the process, and focused on being together instead of worrying about perfect conditions.
Those portraits ended up feeling true to who they are. Natural, unforced, and centered on their connection rather than the light itself.
The reception took place onsite, keeping everything easy for guests and allowing the celebration to flow naturally from one part of the day to the next. The overall vibe stayed laid-back, with a wedding party and guest list that felt genuinely happy to be there.
Their first dance was a standout moment. Crystal can dance! Once the dance floor opened, the energy followed. While the party picked up as the night went on, the day never lost its relaxed feel. Crystal and David weren’t focused on small details or perfection. They were excited to be married and excited to celebrate with their closest people.
That kind of genuine connection is always something I love photographing.
