Allison and Evan’s Caldwell Chapel wedding was thoughtful, personal, and rooted in the kind of quiet moments that tend to matter most. From the way they planned their day to the traditions they chose to include, everything felt intentional and true to who they are as a couple.
Their wedding day unfolded across two historic Louisville venues, with a ceremony at Caldwell Chapel and a reception at Gardencourt. Both spaces offered a warm, classic backdrop for a spring celebration that focused less on excess and more on meaning.
These two first met in their English class at the University of Louisville, bonding over books and a shared appreciation for organization. That connection carried into their relationship, which officially began in 2018. Some of their earliest dates included afternoons at the Speed Art Museum and seasonal traditions like the Jack O Lantern Spectacular.
After nearly six years together, Evan proposed on New Year’s Eve 2023 at one of their favorite overlooks in Cherokee Park. Before he could even finish asking, Allison was already in tears. It was simple, emotional, and perfectly them.
Their Caldwell Chapel wedding ceremony felt intimate from the moment guests arrived. The chapel’s architecture and scale create a setting that naturally draws focus to the vows, which worked beautifully for a couple who values presence over performance.
One of the most meaningful traditions Allison and Evan included was laying down a rug during the ceremony. It symbolized always having a place to stand together, no matter where life takes them. It was a quiet moment, but one that carried a lot of weight.
Before the ceremony, Allison chose to do two first looks. One with Evan, and one with her dad. Both were calm, emotional pauses in the day that gave everyone a moment to slow down before the ceremony began.
Family played a huge role throughout the wedding. Allison’s veil was hand embroidered by multiple generations of women in her family, including her mom, sister, aunt, and grandmother. That level of care showed up again in the DIY table numbers and small details woven throughout the reception.
Following their ceremony, guests gathered at Gardencourt for the reception. The gardens and historic home paired beautifully with their spring florals and relaxed vision for the evening.
Rather than packing the timeline with extras, Allison and Evan focused on what mattered to them. Good conversation, time with family, and a day that felt comfortable. When asked about their approach to planning, they summed it up simply with “no muss, no fuss.”
For a couple who enjoys slow Saturdays at home with coffee, board games, and quality time, that philosophy carried through every part of the day.
A Caldwell Chapel wedding is a great fit for couples who want a ceremony that feels focused and meaningful without feeling overly formal. Paired with a nearby venue like Gardencourt, it allows for a smooth flow to the day while keeping everything close and connected.
Allison and Evan’s wedding is a great example of how choosing venues that align with your priorities can make the entire experience feel easier and more intentional.
