How Margaret & Josh Met

Margaret and Josh met through Hinge and started talking not long before deciding to meet in person. Their first date was at Proud Hound Coffee on a chilly January afternoon. Josh arrived early and waited out front, which already says a lot about him.

They grabbed coffee and spent time getting to know each other. The conversation didn’t immediately turn into fireworks, but it felt easy enough to keep going. When Josh walked Margaret to her car, he suggested they take a walk despite the cold. That extra time together made the difference, turning a simple first date into the start of something more.

Beginning Their Smale Park Engagement Session

For their engagement session, we started by walking through Smale Park and letting things ease in naturally. I always approach sessions this way, especially for couples who value connection over stiff posing. Walking, talking, and moving together helps everything feel more relaxed from the start.

From a Thoughtful Proposal to What Comes Next

Josh proposed in a way that felt completely true to who they are as a couple. He surprised Margaret with tickets to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at Music Hall and arranged a private backstage tour beforehand. The proposal happened on stage, with Josh standing on the conductor’s platform and reading a note he had written.

He even asked her to marry him in Chinese, pronunciation and all, which made the moment even more personal. Knowing that story added so much depth to photographing their Smale park engagement sessoin. These images are part of a much bigger story.

Looking Ahead to Their Wedding Day

Margaret and Josh are especially excited to honor Jewish traditions on their wedding day, from standing under the chuppah to signing the ketubah and dancing the hora. More than anything, they’re looking forward to having all of their people together in one place.

That sense of connection and togetherness was present throughout their engagement session. Nothing felt forced. Just two people who genuinely enjoy being with each other and are excited about what’s ahead.
