I met Elli and Luke in Mitchell, Indiana for their Spring Mill engagement session, and right away it felt like a good fit for them. They’re easygoing, comfortable together, and more interested in spending time side by side than putting on a show for the camera. Spring Mill gave us room to move around, talk, and settle into the session without feeling rushed.
They came into the evening knowing they wanted photos that felt honest and reflective of their relationship, not overly planned or stiff. That mindset shaped everything about the session.
Elli and Luke met on Tinder, which feels very fitting for a modern love story. Their first date was bowling at Imperial Lanes in Terre Haute, followed by dinner and a long conversation on top of a parking garage watching traffic go by. It’s one of those simple first dates that ends up meaning a lot more because of the time spent together.
They started dating in July of 2024 and got engaged the following June. Luke proposed at the Chandelier Barn Market in Montgomery while they were shopping with his parents. He insisted on taking photos, which immediately raised some suspicion since that’s not something he usually does. Elli had no idea what was coming, which made the moment even more emotional. Luke cried during the proposal, and Elli said it really hit her later once the adrenaline wore off.
When it came time to plan their engagement photos, Elli and Luke didn’t have a specific location in mind, but they knew they liked parks and wooded areas. Spring Mill State Park checked those boxes and gave us a lot of variety without needing to bounce between locations.
One of the reasons I often recommend this park is how easy it is to work within one area. Trails, open spaces, and quieter spots are all close together, which keeps sessions moving comfortably. For couples considering a Spring Mill engagement session, it works well if you want a lot of variety without having to move around or overthink the location.
It also fit their overall wedding style, which they described as classy but rustic.
We spent most of the session moving through different areas of the park and letting things unfold naturally. Luke brought a lot of energy and humor, which set the tone early on, and Elli matched that with an ease that made everything feel comfortable. The more they talked and moved together, the less they noticed the camera, which is always when the strongest images happen.
They didn’t come in with a list of must-have poses or specific shots they were worried about. Instead, they focused on being present with each other. That allowed the session to feel relaxed and gave space for moments that actually reflect how they interact day to day.
When I asked what they wanted most from their engagement photos, their answer was simple. They wanted images that showed their love.
They enjoy motorcycle rides, trying new places to eat, and spending weekends together after busy workweeks. That sense of connection carried through the entire session and shows up clearly in the final gallery.
Elli and Luke are most excited about their reception and seeing everyone dressed up on their wedding day, which tells me their celebration will be full of energy and the people they care about most. Their engagement session felt like a quiet lead-in to that next chapter.
A Spring Mill engagement session is a good option for couples who want a setting where they can settle in, move around, and not feel like they’re constantly being posed.
